Yes we can go 100% Renewable!

In simple terms, WA’s Southwest electricity Grid (the SWIS) total energy demand can be provided by any one of the following renewable energy resources:
Solar thermal area: 15km x 15km
Solar PV area: 20km x 20km
Wind area: 50km x 50km while maintaining 98% of previous land use
Wave area: 3.5km x 3.5km
Geothermal area: 20km x 20 km


The squares at the top of the graphic show the area required for each renewable, at the same scale. So very little area is required to provide 100% of our southern power supply (SWIS)!
