Here at SEN we value our volunteers. We are volunteers also. We are a dynamic, positive and forward looking group. We are currently growing and expanding our out reach and aims. So we need you.
We currently have the following roles available:
SEN Presents - catering
Every six weeks we hold presentations in East Perth. Typically 50 - 80 people attend each event and we need someone to purchase finger food, bring it to the venue, prepare (put on plates) and serve it. A lovely young man, Chris, has been doing this for us for more than 5 years now and we need someone to replace him. It isn't a lot of work - about an hour shopping on the day (we will give you a list of food), 30 minutes preparing (from 5.00pm to 5.30pm) and 30 minutes after the presentation (from 7.00pm to 7.30pm) to clean up. Others within the team are also happy to assist. All food costs and some other pre-arranged expenses are reimbursed. Contact Gilda at [email protected] if you would like to take on this much appreciated role.
Do you love combing through the media on a regular basis? We know we can get 85% renewable energy into the south-west grid cheaper than coal so it's time we started getting that positive message out there. The problem is that many still perceive coal and nuclear as the way forward and we want to change that mind-set! Your role will be to find any negative stories about renewables, or positive stories about coal and/or nuclear, and immediately respond with our standard set of responses showing that renewables are cheaper and cleaner and the only option for moving forward. We welcome your involvement in continuing to improve and formulate our set of responses. Please contact Gilda [email protected] for more information or to express interest.
We have a good list of media outlets, but we need more! This is a project for someone who has a little time during the day to call newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations etc to get contact e-mails for relevant people who report on renewables or those nasties (coal and nuclear). We are going to need these valuable contacts when we do our Launch of our ground-breaking research later this year so your work is really significant! We have an office in West Perth (next to the train station) that has given us access to their phones and computers, or you can do this work from home. Contact Gilda at [email protected] if you would like to take on this special project.
Other volunteer roles:
We appreciate help during events, help with economic and technical analysis of policy matters, graphics, membership assistance, clerical and general areas.
And there is always some work required within our teams of Events, Policy, Research, Out Reach and Education, and Simulation / Technical.
Or SIREN software is open source and as such is open to be forked and improved/customised for your own needs, and the lead programmer welcomes interest in the SIREN package from other developers.
If any of these sound of interest or you would like to develop your own fit, please contact us via phone or the form below.Become a volunteer
